The perfect stage blood for the Air Squib is thin enough to pass through the fibres of normal garments easily and looks great flying through the air. It is normally easy to wash out of clothes if run through the washing machine. However, it may stain furniture, wallpapers, carpets, and skin, so test it on a small surface before using it on set. 150 ml is usually enough for up to 18 standard simulated hits using the air squib system.
We use a painter’s backdrop from “non-woven” for all blood spatter work. This makes it easy to cover walls, ceiling, floor or director, camera operator, etc.
